Boarding your dog during your holiday
We have found the perfect boarding kennel for our Kelpie Girl Bundy. When we go on tour we cannot take our little princess with us so leaving her in good hands and great surroundings is most important to us. Bundy is an integral part of our little family, she is my little mate and shadow and knowing that she is loved and well cared for gives me peace of mind.
We are now taking her to 'The Bavarian Lodge' at Londonderry (near Richmond) and we have decided no matter where we have to go, she is not going anywherelse but to the 'Lodge'. Please check out their website and I am sure you will be as impressed as what we are. When you make a booking please let Lee know that we recommended the 'Lodge'. www.bavarianlodgekennels.com.au - cheers Gaby
Please remember, just because we do not have a forum on our website, doesn’t mean you can’t always drop us a line or give a call if you have any questions about anything 4x4.
Handy Hints
All things Mechanical
When preparing for a trip, particularly an extended trip into the Outback or areas such as the Victorian High Country, one of the most important thing is to ensure your truck and trailer are in good sound mechanical condition. A big mistake is to assume because the truck and or trailer are almost new, still under warranty and have hardly been off road, that all the mechanics are ok.
Even though you may have just had a service done as part of your trip preparation, does not mean all is well.
On a recent trip, an almost new trailer lost a shock absorber (upon inspecting it, it appeared that a bolt may not have been done up properly), another trip earlier in the year we had a customer who had troubles engaging 4 high, it turned out he had never been off road with the vehicle.
Not many of us are motor mechanics or mechanically inclined, however it is wise to become familiar with your truck and trailer, have a look under the car and the bonnet and check things like shock absorbers, springs, hoses, battery trays etc. you may discover a bolt or clamp loosening before disaster strikes.
That’s it for now.
Safe touring – Cheers, Gaby...
Advertorial from our Sponsor: AMERICA’S COOPER TIRES-THE 4WD TYRE MADE TO LAST
Read on to find out why companies such as AUSSIE OFFROAD EXPERIENCE have changed over to Cooper Tires:
One of Australia’s leading 4WD magazines, 4WD Monthly, tested 14 top selling 4WD tyre brands. Tests uncovered that the manufacturer making the strongest, most puncture resistant tyre is America’s Cooper Tires. The result rated Cooper ahead of Goodyear, BFGoodrich, Bridgestone, Dunlop, Michelin and eight other leading brands.
As Cooper produces exclusively for the aftermarket, they do not compromise on quality or performance to meet a price or the criteria of a vehicle manufacturer. Cooper uses wider and stronger steel belts inside the tyre to give extra strength and to enable the production of deeper tread tyres.
You get up to 30.3% more overall tread depth with shoulder grooves that are up to 46.3% deeper than many original tyres that come factory-fitted with new vehicles.
This is how Cooper tyres give you more grip, more resistance to punctures and damage, less tread squirm and more mileage. In other words, you get more for your money.
Each type of Cooper is specifically designed to excel in different terrain conditions, from high performance to serious offroad patterns. Cooper’s popular offroad patterns are the ATR, ST and STT.
Cooper’s ST is now one of the most popular all terrain tyres for 4WD drivers who adventure offroad but do as much mileage on bitumen. On road handling is excellent in the dry, and surprisingly good in the wet. The S/T is ideally suited for carrying heavy loads on outback roads, with sharp shoulders designed to dig so you’ll find they perform exceptionally well in mud and adventurous 4WD tracks.
The new STT is designed for the 4WDriver who wants a tyre with the grip and puncture resistance to drive the most serious of offroad applications. With a special carcass construction called ArmorTek3 that is unique to Cooper, the new STT is now 33% stronger in the sidewalls and 2.5 times more resistant to tearing.
Cooper tyres are available in a range of sizes to fit 15, 16, 17, 18, 20, 22 and 24 inch rims, depending on tread pattern.
